Hi, I've been a travel writer since 2011. My old site, Simian Circles, I closed down, figuring 10 years is a good run. I have traveled since I was two weeks old and backpacked across the United States and around Europe plus North Africa, in the late 1960's and early 70's.
This website is a shift of focus and even though traveling is involved, it will take a back seat to photographing wildlife, when and where I can find it. This domain was one sitting idle and expires in 2027 after which I will probably no longer write up anything.
This is something I have had buried in my mind since I was a teenager, back in yon years of yore, and have decided to finally take the bull by the horns and get on with it. I do not do social media.
Any place I visit must have, excellent public transportation there and back or I will not give it a second thought.
If somewhere is good, I'll say so. If not, I'll trash it, so you won't waste your time on the place.
I've added a new subject for hikes, might as well, because so far that's about all I've done searching for any wild animals.

As of March 2025 I will very rarely travel except for maybe some hikes in the country, if the weather is dry and warm. See here for more details. I think I am the oldest travel blogger in the world now (I was 80 in early September 2025).
